Samples of cast uranium rods containing small additions of iron, aluminum, and carbon were beta heated, quenched, and alpha annealed to determine the effect on grain size and structure. Minimum average grain size obtained was 60 micron. High alpha annealing failed to produce a recrystallized grain structure from the beta quenched samples. (auth)
