A 5-group scheme for physics calculations on pressuretube heavy-water reactors is being developed. The Mercury Autocode program which calculates flux distributions and such derived quantities as reactivity, from input data prepared by the associated program SANDPIPER III (3) is described. The theory and the numerical analysis are set out in full. lts operation is explained by reference to an example. (auth)
