Melting point, lattice parameters, and hardness of Os -Re alloy were studied and a constitution diagram was constructed. The alloy forms a continuous series of solid solutions with melting temperatures smoothly increasing from the melting temperature of osmium (3050 deg C) to rhenium (3170 deg C). The x-ray analysis showed only hexagonal solid solutions with lattice parameters increasing with increased rhenium. (R.V.J.)
