A REMARK ON THE MEASUREMENT OF THE ANOMALOUS MAGNETIC MOMENT FORM FACTOR OF THE PROTON AT LARGE MOMENTUM TRANSFERS

A discussion is presented concerning the charge and anomalous magnetic moment form factors F/sub 1,p/ and F/sub 2,p/ that are functions of the electron 4-momentum transfer q/sup 2/ as introduced into the proton current operator to allow for the mesonic structure of the proton. Information on F/sub 2,p/ at larger than presently used values of q/sub 2/ can be ob tained if the assumption is made that F/sub 1,p/ does not vary rapidly for q/sup 2/ > 25f/sup -2/, but rather maintains the gradual drift toward smaller values characteristic of the region f/sup -2/ < q/sup 2/ < 25f/sup -2/.
