The aversge value, variance, and fractional standard deviation are theoretically evaluated for the statistical correlation method (V. I. Gold'anski and M. I. Podgoretski, Doklady Akad. Nauk S.S.S.R., 100: 237(1955)) for measuring half lives in the 10/sup -4/ to 10/sup -1/ second region of daughter activities that are in secular equilibrium with long-lived parent radioactivities or constant sources. The general expressions developed by an original method of analysis reduce to those presented by the former authors for the special case of prompt'' daughter decay. (auth)
