EFFECT OF X-RAYS ON OXIDATIVE PHOSPHORYLATION IN PLANT MITOCHONDRIA

Journal Article · · Biochemistry (U.S.S.R.) (English Translation)
OSTI ID:4780840
Far-reaching inhibition of oxidative phosphorylation in pea seedling mitochondria is detectable immediately after in vitro irradiation of whole plants at a dose level of 3 kilorads. E sterification of inorganic phosphorus is inhibited more strongly than oxygen absorption. The oxidative phosphorylation system in intact cells is more prone to radiation damsge than that in isolated mitochondria. (auth)
