Surface superconductivity in high purity niobium

At temperatures very close to the superconducting critical temperature, the nucleation field Hc3 does not agree with the predictions of Saint James and de Gennes. As T approaches Tc, the ratio C= Hc3/Hc2 approaches 1.0 rather than the theoretical value of 1.7.
