STARTUP EXPERIENCE WITH THE PLUTONIUM RECYCLE TEST REACTOR

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4779918
The Plutonium Recycle Test Reactor has several novel design features which are used for the first time in a U. S. reactor. Of these features, the Zircaloy-2 pressure tubes and reactor control by a gas balance moderator level system were quite successful. Helium pressurization required considerable maintenance and shortened pump seal life during the reactor startup, but its performance has substantially improved. (auth)
