Measurements on C-biocks were carried out in residual injection fields. The mean square magnetic induction deflection in residual field was 4.25% and in injection field, 1.4% (beyond permissible limits). Compensation by means of resistances and shim windings (and by magnet shifting) reduced the straggling characteristics and equalized the C-block fields. (R.V.J.)
