LOW-FREQUENCY PLASMA OSCILLATIONS IN MAGNETIC FIELD (in Russian)

>An electron beam with 100 kc oscillations, related to the high- frequency noise generated by an electron gun, was observed at 10/sup -6/ to 10/ sup -5/ mm Hg pressure in magnetic fields and in electron injection magnetic traps. Depression of noise at the entrance of the gun reduced the oscillation amplitudes. An external high-frequency signal may replace the noise. Oscillations of 100 kc can also be excited by a 28 to 29 Mc signal. Plasma, produced by the beam in a gas-filled chamber, plays an important part in the excitation. It is postulated that the oscillations are excited by irregular interactions of fields related to the noise in the plasma-beam system. (tr-auth)
