URANIUM AND THORIUM IN IGNEOUS ROCKS OF THE WESTERN TRANSBAIKAL (in Russian)

Journal Article · · Geokhimiya (U.S.S.R.) For English translation 1956-63 see Geochemistry (USSR)
OSTI ID:4778004
In the history of evolution of the Western Transbaikal mobile zone two accumulation cycles of radioactive elements in intrusives are outlined: the lower- paleozoic and the mesozoic. In each of the cycles occurs first an increase of U- and Th-content and of the Th/U-ratio in rocks of successive magmatic phases, and then a lowering of the whole content of radioactive elements and of the Th/U- ratio. In the last magmatic phases of both cycles in parallel with the saturation of the melt with volatile components noticeably increases the role of mobile uranium. A tendency to primary uranium and thorium accumulation in acid and alkaline magma differentiates is outlined. (auth)
