PROPERTIES OF NUCLEAR LEVELS IN A NUMBER OF ODD-A NUCLEI (151 /less than or equal to/ A /less than or equal to/ 191
In order to obtain more evidence on the systematic behavior of nuclear energy levels in the deformed region, a number of neutron-deficient odd-mass activities were studied with internal conversion electron spectrographs. Some scintillation counter measurements were made. Level schemes are postulated for decays leading to the following odd-neutron nuclei: Pm/sup 151/ yields Sm/sup 151/, Tb/sup 151 yields Gd/sup Tb/sup 153/ yields Gd/sup 153/, Tb/sup 155/ yields Gd/sup 155/, Eu/sup 157 yields Gd/sup 157/, Tm/sup 163 yields Er/sup 163/, Tm/sup 165/ yields Er/sup 165/, Ho/sup 167 yields Er/sup 167/, Re/sup 183/ yields W/sup 1 83/, Ir/sup 185/ yields Os/sup 185/, Ir/sup 187/ yields Os/sup 187/, and Ir/sup 189/ yields Os/sup 189/. As a corollary, da ta are presented for the odd-proton nuclei populated in the decays of Pt/sup 189/ yields Ir/sup 189/ and Pt/sup 191/ yields Ir/sup 191/. The proposed sta tes are described using the Mottelson and Nilsson predictions. Some conclusions may be drawn concerning such properties of these orbitals as moments of inertia, M1/ E2 mixing ratios, and positions of the intrinsic excitations. Ratios of gamma- ray transition probabilities from the various states are given. Previously published studies of odd-A nuclei in the region of odd-N numbers 99--107 are incorporated in the energy-level systematics. (auth)
