PREPARATION AND PROPERTIES OF THE SINGLE CRYSTALLINE AB$sub 2$-TYPE SELENIDES AND TELLURIDES OF NIOBIUM, TANTALUM, MOLYBDENUM AND TUNGSTEN

The AB/sub 2/-type selenides and tellurides of niobium, tantalum, molybdenum, and tungsten were prepared in single crystalline form by means of transport reactions. Lattice parameters were determined on the basis of single crystal patterns and are given for the eight compounds. Pertinent thermoelectric parameters, such as electrical resistlvity, Seebeck coefficient, and thermal conductivity were measured on compacted polycrystalline aggregates and are given together with the calculated Figure of Merit.
