REPORT OF OBSERVATIONS ON METABOLISM AND NUTRITION: SUBTASK, RADIATION AND STERILIZATION OF FOODS FOR DEPARTMENT OF ANIMAL HUSBANDRY, CORNELL UNIVERSITY, ITHACA, NEW YORK

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4776100
The effects of diets of irradiated tuna fish or corn on dogs was studied. Conclusions were based only on the tabulation of incidence of lesions; no statistical tests were made. With the exception of a chondrosarcoma of the scapula in one dog and unilateral testicular atrophy in another, the lesions in the dogs were mild and of minor degree. It was concluded that the consumption of irradiated tuna fish or corn produced no histopathologic change in dogs that can be attributed to the specific food or level of irradiation. (P.C.H.)
