Sensitization of Radio-resistant Bacteria to X-rays by lodoacetamide

Journal Article · · Nature (London)
DOI:https://doi.org/10.1038/1961324a0· OSTI ID:4772716

Bacteria suspended in a buffered solution containing Iodoacetamide are rendered more sensitive to x rays. Pseudomonas fluorescens, E. coli B/r, Micrococcus sodonensis, and Micrococcus radiodurans require smaller lethal doses when irradiated in the presence of Iodoacetamide. Bleaching the yellow pigment in Micrococcus sodonensis and reduction in the oxidation of pyruvate by this organism are also noted.
