The structures of LaCr{sub 0.6}Ni{sub 0.4}O{sub 3} and LaCr{sub 0.6}Ni{sub 0.4}O{sub 2.8} have been determined by Rietveld refinement of neutron powder diffraction data. LaCr{sub 0.6}Ni{sub 0.4}O{sub 3} adopts the orthorhombic GdFeO{sub 3} structure with space group Pnma, a = 5.4735(1) {angstrom}, b = 7.7568(2) {angstrom}, c = 5.5105(1) {angstrom}, V = 233.96 {angstrom}{sup 3}, Z = 4. LaCr{sub 0.6}Ni{sub 0.4}O{sub 2.8} is rhombohedral, with space group R{bar 3}c, and a = 5.5264(3) {angstrom}, c = 13.2991(4) {angstrom}, V = 351.754 {angstrom}, Z = 6.
