ARMY GAS-COOLED REACTOR SYSTEMS PROGRAM. Semiannual Progress Report, January 1 through June 30, 1962
Highlights of the work performed in connection with the Army Gas-Cooled Reactor Systems Program for the period January through June 1962 are discussed. The program includes the Gas-Cooled Reactor Experiment; the ML-1, a prototype mobile gas-cooled nuclear power plant; the ML1A; and an advanced systems project. The purpose of the program is to develop a mobile nuclear power plant suitable for military field use (the ML-1A). A core test facility was operated at the AEC's NRTS (the GCRE) to provide information for use in designing and developing the ML-1, a prototype power plant, now being tested at NRTS. Background information on the Gas Turbine Test Facility is included. Progress on these projects is reported with information on associated tests and data evalu ation, and the status of experimental and prototype components. (auth)
