The oxidation kinetics of uranium in air, dry and moist oxygen, moist nitrogen, and moist hydrogen were determined at 75 deg C. The oxidation products were examined using x-ray diffraction, and ignition studies were employed to determine the composition of the oxides formed in various moist environments. The effect of surface preparation and roughness on the oxidation rate was determined. (auth)
