Electromagnetic Radiative Corrections and the Elementary Nature of the Photon

The electromagnetic radiative corrections in photon interactions at high energy are examined as to their association with Regge poles. Starting from the corrected elastic cross section for electron scattering by a potential, it is shown that the summation of a large number of emissions and absorptions of soft, or infrared, photons leads to a Regge behaviour of electron scattering cross sections which is directly connected with the energy spectrum of positronium. Finally, conclusions based on the induced Regge behavior in the cross sections are presented and discussed.
