GAMMA RAYS FROM THE INTERACTION OF 14-Mev NEUTRONS WITH LITHIUM

Journal Article · · Nuclear Physics (Netherlands) Divided into Nucl. Phys. A and Nucl. Phys. B

The cross section for the Li/sup 7/(n,n')Li/sup 7/* yields Li/sup 7/ + gamma (0.477 Mev) reacti on is measured near 14 Mev by detecting the gamma rays. A ti me-of-flight technique is used to distinguish the gamma rays from the high neutron background. The cross section is about 80 mb ( plus or minus 12%) in the neutron energy range 13.6 to 14.3 Mev. Beyond this the data suggest a rise in the cross section to 110 mb at 14.7 Mev. (auth)
