Limits of the in situ sythesis of tris(2,2{prime}-bipyridine)ruthenium(II) in the supercages of zeolite Y

The authors probed the structure of Ru centers in ruthenium bipyridine complexes contained in zeolite Y cages at different loadings. It was found that n in the formula Ru(bpy){sub n}(NH{sub 3}){sub 6{minus}2n}{sup 2+} varied with loading and that at high loadings Ru(bpy){sub 3}{sup +} accumulates at the zeolite surface.
