TRACER TECHNIQUES AND FIELD PROCEDURES USED IN THE CAPE CANAVERAL AND VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE DIFFUSION EXPERIMENTS
Technical Report
·
OSTI ID:4765879
The fluorescent atmospheric tracer technique and procedures used to apply the technique to diflusion studies at Cape Canaveral, Florida and Vandenberg Air Force Base, California are described. The tracer material used was ZnS. The fluorescent pigment was dispensed by an aerosol fog generator. Samplers consisted of membrane filters inserted in disposable polyethylene holders. The zinc sulfide collected on the filters was activated by alpha bombardment resulting in scintillations which were counted. Preliminary results of the studies are discussed. (M.C.G.)
