Requirements of the research program were analyzed and detailed methods were developed for obtaining and reviewing pertinent plant data. Basic equipment was acquired and chemical techniques needed for bioassay studies were developed. Measurements were made on the amount of enviromental I/sup 131/ concentrated in the thyroid glands of humans. Surveys were made on the sensitivity of film badges used as personnel dosimeters at the Westinghouse Testing Reactor and the sensitivity of the radiation detection instrument used for in-vivo thyroid I/sup 131/ detection.
