Results of an investigation to obtain burnout data for use in design of the Pathfinder boiler core are presented. It was found that burnout relations developed for round and rectangnlar channels are not applicable to single-rod burnout at 600 psia. The data taken in the tests do not permit isolation of mass flow and inlet subcooling effects on burnout heat flux. A design equation is included which yields conservative burnout predictions for the Pathfinder operating conditions. (J.R.D.)
