ENGINEERING PROPERTIES OF POTASSIUM. Quarterly Report No. 8, July 1- September 30, 1962

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4763850
Measurements of the viscosity, vapor pressure, and heat capacity of liquid potassium have been concluded. In addition, data for the thermal conductivity and electrical resistivity have been obtained at temperatures up to about 800 deg C; minor modifications in the apparatus are believed needed to continue measurements to 1150 deg C as planned. Equipment for measuring the P-V- T properties is in the final stages of assembly, and measurements are expected to be completed during the next quarter. Effort on the design study of equipment for determining the specific heat of potassium vapor has been concluded. Study of methods and techniques for measuring the thermal conductivity of potassium vapor is nearing conclusion. (auth)
