PRELIMINARY DESCRIPTION OF THE TRANSFER MEMORY

The transfer memory (TM) of the Pattern Articulation Unit is a 32 x 1024 bit store which acts as a buffer for the stalactite array. The stored words may be considered to lie either horizontally or vertically. The registers seen by the programmer, organization and sequencing of the TM, general design considerations, experimental status, and component requirements are discussed. (M.C.G.)
