INTERMEDIATE-TEMPERATURE OXIDATION OF BERYLLIDES. Quarterly Progress Report, June 1 to September 1, 1962

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4763568

The oxidation kinetics and characteristics of ZrBe/sub 13/, Zr/sub 2/Be/ sub 17/, NbBe/sub 12/, and Nb/sub 2/Be/sub 17/ in the temperature ra nge 1200 to 1800 deg F are described. The beryllides under consideration are subject to catastrophic oxidation and/or metallic disintegration when exposed to oxidizing atmospheres at these temperatures. The principal techniques employed in the investigation include metallography, x-ray diffraction, and thermogravimetric measurements under variable atmospheres. (auth)
