A SECONDARY INTERACTION OF TRI-n-OCTYLAMINE WITH HYDROCHLORIC ACID AND THENOYLTRIFLOROACETONE

Journal Article · · Journal of Physical Chemistry (U.S.)
OSTI ID:4763155
The extraction of HCl by benzene solutions of thenolytrifluoroacetone (TTA) and tri-n-octylamine (TNOA) was studied. The nature of the compound in the organic phase which causes a greater withdrawal of acid from the aqueous phase than predicted by the known reactions was investigated. It was found that the extraction of HCl can be completely accounted for by the presence of three species, R/sub 3/NHCl, R/sub 3/NHT, and R/sub 3/NHClHT. (P.C.H.)
