Interactions of $pi$$sup -$-Mesons with Hydrogen at 340 Mev; VZAIMODEISTVIE $pi$$sup -$-MEZONOV S VODORODOM PRI ENERGII 340 Mev

A 25-cm liquid hydrogen bubble chamber placed in magnetic field was used in studies of pi - + p yields pi - + pi /sup +/ + n/sup +/ + n, pi /sup -/ + p yields pi /sup -/ + pi /sup 0/ + p, and pi /sup -/ + p yields pi /sup -/ + gamma + p reactions at a pi /sup -/ energy of 340 plus or minus 15 Mev. Measurements of the total cross sections showed that pi meson interactions at scattering length T = 0 is considerably stronger than at T = 2. The angular distributions of secondary particles and the distributions at total center-of- mass energy for pi /sup +/ n, pi /sup -/ n, and pi /sup +/ pi /sup -/ were found. (tr -auth)
