SOME ENERGY LEVEL DETERMINATIONS OF O$sup 18$ AND O$sup 2$$sup 0$

Journal Article · · Nuclear Physics (Netherlands) Divided into Nucl. Phys. A and Nucl. Phys. B
Some energy levels of O/sup 18/ and O/sup 20/ are determined from studies of the O/sup 16/(t,p)O/sup 18/, F/sup 19/(t, alpha )O/sup 18/, and O/sup 18/ (t,p)O/sup 20/ reactions. In all cases tritons of about 6 Mev are used and the emitted protons or alpha particles are analyzed in a broadrange magnetic spectrograph. Twenty-six states are observed in O/sup 18/ below an excitation energy of 8.64 Mev, and eleven states in O/sup 20/ below 5.83 Mev. The Q-value of the O/sup 18/(t,p)O/sup 20/ reaction is measured to be 3.076 plus or minus 0.010 Mev and is consistent with a mass excess for O/sup 20/ of 3.802 Mev (refer to C/sup 12/ scale). (auth)
