Journal Article · · Vestn. Mosk. Univ., Ser. III

A 35-Mev betatron with a 24.6 mg/cm/sup 2/ foil of tungsten with less than 0.05% impurities was used for measuring the angular and energy distributions and yields of photoprotons at a maximum gamma and bremsstrahlung energies of 22.5 and 33.5 Mev. The photoproton yields at E/sub max/ = 22.5 and 33.5 Mev were 2.6 x 10/sup 4/ and 6.8 x 10/sup 4/, respectively. Thus the results show that in ( gamma ,p) reactions the W cross section maximum is found at E/sub gamma / = 22.5 Mev and the gamma absorption is basically quadrupole in character. (R.V.J.)
