BS>Polarization of lambda hyperons in pi /sup -/-p interactions at pi /sup -/ energies of 7 to 8 Bev was studied, and the derived magnitudes, aP/sub 1/ (forward and backward) = +0.04 plus or minus 0.08, aP/sub 2/ (up and down) = +0.01 plus or minus 0.08, and aP/sub 3/ (right-left) = --0.08 plus or minus 0.08, showed that lambda hyperons are originally not polarized. The angular distribution of lambda generation planes is constructed in relation to the K/ sup 0/ generation plane when lambda -K/sup 0/ pairs are recorded and in relation to the plane of pi /sup -/(n/sup +/) generation in two-prong stars. The obtained results are in good agreement with parity conservation in strong interactions. (tr-auth)
