ESR Spectrum of the Cyclohexadienyl Radical

Journal Article · · Journal of Chemical Physics

The ESR spectrum of liquid 1,4-cyclohexadiene was observed during irradiation with 2.8-Mev electrons. The hyperfine interactions of seven protons indicate that the radical is a planar, conjugated pi radical. Assignments are made for the coupling constants. The results are compared with these found for irradiated solid benzene. (D.L.C.)
