FISSION-PRODUCT RELEASE FROM FUEL-ELEMENT CLADDINGS. Quarterly Progress Report, July-September 1962

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4760267

A fifth series of out-of-pile Xe/sup 133/ release experiments were performed using chromium foils impregnated with a fission product concentration of 2 x 10/sup 9/ fission recoils per cm/sup 2/. The effects of temperature, initial specimen surface, and fission-recoil damage on the behavior of Xe/sup 133/ release were studied. A solid fission-product diffusion couple was prepared, and the distributions of Ce/sup 141/, Ru/sup 103/, and Nb/sup 95/ were determined. (M.C.G.)
