A Superconducting Solenoid
Characteristics of a superconducting solenoid wound from 100 ft of Nb-Zr alloy are given. Maximum current required to drive the wire is 23 amp, corresponding to a critical current density in the superconductor of 4.5 x 104 amp/cm2 and a maximum magnetic field at the solenoid center of 8.8 kgauss.
