>The radical mechanism of the radioinduced copolymerization of tetrafluoroethylene with ethylene by means of a Co/sup 60/ gamma -ray source is described. The x-ray diffraction measurements indicated that the copolymer was crystalline. The observed varying compositions and melting points of the copolymers with respect to molar concentrations and components of one of the monomers are discussed. It was concluded that polymerization is important both for the energy transfer to ethylene from tetrafluoroethylene and for the great affinity of the hydrogen atom for the fluorine atom. (OID)
