The infrared absorption spectra of LiF and Li2F2 isolated in solid argon, krypton, and xenon were investigated from 2 to 35 mu . Infrared frequencies of both molecules were obtained, and the assignment of the B2u and B3u modes of Li2F2 was made assuming a planar rhomboid structure, (Vh). An interesting case of a so-called matrix effect'' is also presented.
