HISTORICAL REVIEW OF THE THEORETICAL INVESTIGATION OF NEW PARTICLES

Journal Article · · Progr. Theoret. Phys. (Kyoto), Suppl.
DOI:https://doi.org/10.1143/PTPS.19.23· OSTI ID:4756616
An historical review is given of theoretical investigations on new, particles mainly concerning contributions from Japanese physicists. It starts from the establishment of the two meson theory and covers up to the proposal of Nakano and Nishijima on the strangeness rule. The authors believe that a way to solve the problem of the internal structure of elementary particles with which we are faced at present can not be looked for without the basis of the understanding in the development of our theoretical knowledge on new particles.
