AUTOMATIC RECORDING INSTALLATION FOR CONTINUOUS RADIOISOTOPE EXTRACTION (in Russian)

Journal Article · · Zavodsk. Lab.
OSTI ID:4756608
A design is given for a mixer-precipitator type extractor capable of continuous extraction and re-extraction by lighter or heavier than water solvents. A typical extraction diagram for combined U and Th extraction from 4 M nitric acid solution by 30% tributyl phosphate in o-xylole is included. The initial uranyl content is 10 g; thorium nitrate, 0.2 g; with additions of UX, labeling for thorium and 238 ml of solvent. Separation of uranyl nitrate and Th/sup 234/ in 4 nitric acid solutions was achieved by 5% tri-n-butyl phosphate in benzene foilowed by re-extraction by aqueous solution. (R.V.J.)
