KERNEL AND PAM--PROGRAMS FOR USE IN THE CALCULATING OF THE THERMAL SCATTERING MATRIX FRO CHIMICALLY BOUND SYSTEMS

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4756575
A description is given of the KERNEL program, its development, and application for calculating inelastic scattering probabilities of thermal neutrons from chemically bound target nuclei in moderators. The way in which the detailed input data for KERNEL can be obtained with a second program, PAM, according to either the Nelkin model for water or a four-oscillator model for polyethyiene is also described. FORTRAN source programs are included for both KERNEL and PAM. (auth)
