STUDY OF THE PION PHOTOPRODUCTION PROCESS ON THE BASIS OF DISPERSION RELATIONS

The experimental data on the gamma + p yields p + pi /sup o/ and gamma + p yields n + pi /sup +/ processes in the near threshold gamma energy region are analyzed on the basis of dispersion relations. When calculating the dispersion integrals, use is made of experimental data on the absorption part of the photoproduction amplitude. Agreement with the predictions of dispersion relations is obtained for the photoproduction of pi /sup o/ mesons. The gamma + d yields d + pi /sup o/ and gamma + d yields p + p + pi /sup -/ processes are discussed for the analysis of the isobaric structure of the photoproduction amplitude, as well as for thw elucidation of the role of the pi - pi interaction.
