BETATRON POTENTIAL WELLS

A new method of calculating betatron field parameters is described. Using a model betatron field, the effective radial potential well, orbit radius, and ratio of central field to orbit field are obtained. It is shown that potential wells of sufficient depth for electron injection into plasma betatrons can be achieved without difficulty. (auth)
