This manual was developed for use in training radiological safety monitors. The fundamentals of physics, mathematics, and principles of radiation and radiation protection are reviewed. Techniques for detecting and measuring radioactivity are described. The control of radiological areas, the fundamentals of personnel dosimetry, concepts of and established values for permissible exposure levels, and techniques for decontamination are discussed.
