A composite closure means is designed for sealing off the inner and outer ducts of a concentric pair of ducts such as that used in reactors to convey hot fluid to a heat exchanger and to convey cool fluid therefrom. The closure means comprises two sealing means, one mounted in each duct and providing an annular seating, tubular closure members for engaging the seatings, and gas- operated piston means for sliding the closure members into engagement with the seatings. The sealing means may have neutron shields in order to shield the upstream and downstream from each other. (D.L.C.)
