CONSTRUCTION AND USE OF HIGH PRESSURE BF$sub 3$ NEUTRON PROPORTIONAL COUNTERS (in Polish)

A series of high pressure BF/sub 3/ neutron counters were built. The filling procedure was simplified by the application of flushing the counters with the filling gas. The characteristics of the counters are presented, showing that they are good counters in spite of the very simple filling procedure. The characteristics of the counters did not deteriorate even though some of the counters had already counted about 10/sup 7/ neutrons. The construction consisted of a brass cylindrical body of 6-cm. diameter, 41.4cm. effective length, with a 0.04 mm. tungsten center wire. The brass body was found as satisfactory as other metals in cosmic-ray counters used elsewhere. (TTT)
