He$sup 3$ NUCLEI IN THE PRIMARY COSMIC RADIATION

Journal Article · · Nuovo Cimento (Italy) Divided into Nuovo Cimento A and Nuovo Cimento B
OSTI ID:4752736
The helium isotopic composition was investigated using a photographic emulsion stack flown from Neepawa, Canada, on August 3, 1958. The proportion of He/sub 3/ was determined to be 0.22 plus or minus 0.05 assuming that both isotopes have the same rigidity spectrum. This value is consistent with the assumption that no He/sup 3/ is accelerated in cosmic ray sources and the calculated path length in interstellar space is the same as that obtained using the low energy Li, Be, and B flux in the same stack.
