A radioactive liquid flows through a duct in a shielded space which is provided with a sampling system. The sampling system comprises a centrifugal pump in a preferably vertical cylindrical casing. The pump is dipped into the liquid while the vertical driving shaft with air lubricated hydrostatic bearings is driven by an air turbine. The pump inlet communicates via lateral openings in the pump casing with the liquid in the cylindrical casing, while the exit line of the pump and the air supply lines for the turbine and the bearings pass through the shielding. The pump is removable from the cylindrical casing via an opening accessible from outside the shielding. (NPO)
