The internal conversion spectrum of I/sup 131/(8.06 d) has been examined under moderate and high resolution. K and L lines have been observed due to weak transitions in Xe/sup 131/ of 177.23 plus or minus 0.03 kev, 325.78 plus or minus 0.05 kev and 502.99 plus or minus 0.08 kev. The energy measurements indicate that the first two are in cascade and that the third is a cross-over transition. The K/L ratio and L sub-shell ratios for the 177 kev transition indicate that this transition is E2 in character. From the K/L ratio, the 326 kev transition is probably either E2 or M2. More accurate energy values than heretofore available have been obtained for several of the other transitions in Xe/sup 131/. (auth)
