By taking into account the effects of leakage and absorption, the distortion of the thermal neutron spectrum in a finite organic moderator can be expressed by an integral equation of the Fredholm type. This equation is discussed for the case of 1/v absorption, and a particular solution of the equation leads to the numerical value of the diffusion cooling coefficient. (auth)
