THE REACTION Al$sup 27$(n,$alpha$)Na$sup 24$ AND Co$sup 59$(n,$alpha$)Mn$sup 56$ WITH 14 Mev NEUTRONS (in German)

Journal Article · · Nuclear Physics (Netherlands) Divided into Nucl. Phys. A and Nucl. Phys. B
The energy and angular distributions of the alpha particles from the reactions Al/sup 27/ (n, alpha )Na/sup 24/ and Co/sup 59/(n, alpha )Mn/sup 56/ at 14 Mev were measured. From the energy distribution the nuclear temperature was determined as 1.5 and 0.9 Mev for Na/sup 24/ and Mn/sup 56/ respectively. It turned out to be a constant over the whole region of excitation energy measured. The angular distribution was nearly symmetrical to 90 deg , but in both cases there seemed to be a slight forward asymmetry. The result was compared with the statistical theory. From the anisotropy the moments of inertia for the residual nuclei could be determined. (auth)
